WebThe orangenacre mucket is a mussel that occurs in aquatic habitats ranging from medium creeks to large rivers of the western Mobile River Basin. Scientific Name Hamiota perovalis Webeggs or insect larvae. Species in the second group, such as the orangenacre mucket (Lampsilis perovalis), spin out a “superconglutinate” that remains tethered to the mussel by a clear cord that is up to a meter long. It looks like a minnow swimming, complete with eyespots and countershading.
